Leo contains nine main stars, which are Regulas (Alpha Leonis), Denebola (Beta Leonis), Algieba (Gamma Leonis), Zosma (Delta Leonis), Adhafera (Zeta Leonis), Iota Leonis, Tau Leonis, Mu Leonis and Theta Leonis. The brightest star in Leo is Regulas, which is at the bottom of the 'sickle', about 79 light years away from Earth and 75 times larger than the sun. The closest star to Earth is Wolf 759 and it's 7.8 light years away. Denobla is also fairly close to Earth, 36 light years away. It is 10 times brighter than the Sun and is twice as heavy as the Sun. Leo is also home to six galaxies: Messier 65, Messier 66, Messier 95, Messier 96, Messier 105 and NGC 3628. Messier 65, 66 and NGC 3628 are the three galaxies that make up the Leo Triplet. NGC 3628 is 25 million light years away from Earth and is most like our galaxy 'Milky Way' as it is a spiral. It also has the potential to give birth to millions of stars.
The shape of Leo looks like a lion. A group of bright stars in the shape of a sickle form the shape of the lion's head, mane and chest and another group of stars in the shape of a triangle makes up the lion's tail and haunches.
